About Us

Hello! I am Sarah, and I am the head photographer of Ritter Photography. The art of the photograph has been my passion since childhood and I have spend the past 12 years of my life cultivating and growing that passion. In those 12 years I have spent a great deal of time doing freelance photography of families, seniors, weddings, engagements and more. I am blessed to not be in this journey alone, but to have the most incredible partner and photographer by my side. Angela Ritter, my mom, sparked my interest in photography from the start and together, we have the best time documenting our clients' biggest life milestones. We are truly best friends and have a blast working together.

In addition to all of the wonderful freelance experience I have had the opportunity to gain, I have extensive experience in higher education. My journey has been at Western Illinois University from the beginning and is still growing. I have both a Bachelor and a Masters of Science in Instructional Design and Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis on photographic media. After completing my undergraduate coursework, I accepted full time position at WIU with the Visual Production Center.

My career with WIU has flourished more than I ever imagined. During my time with the Visual Production Center, I have held the position of Digital Imaging Specialist II, Assistant Manager of the Photographic Lab, and now Manager of the Photographic Lab. Capturing the every day spirit of my alma mater is one of my truest joys. At WIU I keep busy photographing large campus events, sports action, student and faculty portraits, high end marketing staged shoots, and much more. The level of experience that I have had the opportunity to gain has prepared me for anything, and for that I am eternally grateful.
